Another question I'm using a P4 3.2Ghz Prescott chip in an Abit IC7-Max 3 motherboard. Now I think that CPU may be 64 bit, but I'm not sure if the Motherboard is.
So, trying tio work out whether I should be loading the 32 or 64 bit version of Vista?
So far I've been loading the 32 bit version, but thought it was worth checking.
So which ISO guys? -- Tekguru (Daron Brewood) MS-MVP/Mobile Devices

32 or 64 bit?
Greetings Daron,
I doubt the Intel Prescott chip is 64-bit enabled.

What happens when each of you try to install Vista?
There has to be something besides the CPU that is the problem.
None of you give any indication of what is happening when you try to install Vista, so how can anyone make any suggestions about what needs to be done?

Virtual PC or Virtual Server cannot host any 64-bit systems at this time, only 32-bit.

A. Virtual Server 2005 R2 runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit (x64) host operating systems. It supports both AMD64 and Intel IA-32e/EM64T (x64) processors. Note that Virtual Server 2005 R2 does not support Itanium (IA-64) processors. Earlier versions of Virtual Server run on x64-based hardware provided it is running a 32-bit version of a supported host operating system.
Note that Virtual Server 2005 R2 requires that guest operating systems be 32-bit.

Hello to all, how do you determine if your computer is 32 or 64 bit, the Vista Beta download has two options. Advice would be helpfull before I download.
Regards
Johnboy
You have to know what your hardware is; what motherboard or model and make of computer, and what make and model central processor (CPU) is in it. If you don't know, you probably have a 32-bit CPU. Most people would know if they have an AMD64 or Intel EM64T CPU.

Yes, the 32-bit will work on either CPU. So, you're safe, as far as CPU, to download the Vista x86 (32-bit).

The 32-bit version runs on both 32 and 64-bit machines.
